Notes

General Note
Evans states that the astronomical calculations in this almanac are by Andrew Beers, assuming this from the presence of an advertisement by Beers on the last page. In fact, the calculations, eclipse predictions, and most of the astronomical notes on the calendar pages are different from those in the other New York state almanacs calculated by Beers for 1796, e.g. Greenleaf's and Hutchins improved.
General Note
On the calendar page for each month in Stoddard except June, from two to six of the astronomical notes found in Beers' almanacs appear, at the same dates or within a day, among those by Mott. Since duplication of such material is seldom found in early almanacs by different calculators, they probably were inserted by Beers, who perhaps revised or completed the whole. This supposition would account for the presence of his advertisement, which is otherwise found only in almanacs calculated by him. Subsequent almanacs in the Stoddard series are by Beers.
